Ask And It'll Be Given

“So I tell you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door...

“So I tell you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead?”

Many Christians know the above quote from Matthew/Luke and to them, it’s the mystery bliss... Knowing you have asked but not being sure of what to expect. It is indeed wonderful to know we can have anything we want, but what is the greatest gift we can ask for that we will undeniably get? A car? a jet? A 110 foot skyscraper? knowledge? strength? wisdom? Or perhaps the Holy Spirit?

“So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him\!”

Luke 11:13 shows that the greatest gift we can receive and are guaranteed to always receive is the Holy Spirit. The question then is what can the Holy Spirit do for us since it doesn’t exactly with a manual?

The answer is scary... The Holy Spirit makes us gods, even for a brief moment. In every case people receive the Holy Spirit with a free mind, they wittingly or unwittingly carry out great works. In Exodus 31 for example, being filled with the Holy Spirit Bezalel would lead the making of Ephod, Breastpiece, Altar of Incense and other great art works/designs. Samson would have great strength through the Holy Spirit. In the new testament, Stephen would do mighty works under the influence of the Holy Spirit. These mighty feats of knowledge, strength and wisdom are divine gifts that can be translated to a god-like life on earth. All we need for these gifts to manifest is to trust and believe in God. We are born not only of flesh but also of the spirit of God.

With all the evil around us, we can become corrupted; our spirits can become weak. But every time we pray for or invite the Holy Spirit, it renews and refreshes us. If we could have the Holy Spirit every day of our lives, we will surely become like God, able to do anything in faith.

One of the confusions men tend to have is why do some of the people who claim to have the Holy Spirit look poor or average... The answer is simple, focused acquisition of material wealth is for the insecure (usually an effort to protect their self image or their generation). True wealth is more of a virtue. Even in the material world, brand names are greater than company buildings.

If our mission on earth is to become like God, there is no greater way to achieve that, than to constantly ask for the Holy Spirit every day, that our spirits may be one with God’s who calls the Church His bride. Because He wants to live in us.

Have a wonderful day.
