This Privacy Policy explains how Catholic Daily, published by ElBiblio, collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Catholic Daily mobile application and related services. It is designed to be clear and practical for App Store and Play Store review, but it does not replace legal advice.
1. What Catholic Daily does
Catholic Daily is a Scripture and liturgy app that helps you read daily Catholic readings, browse liturgical dates, search Scripture, download offline Bible content, request in-app reviews, and optionally send product feedback to ElBiblio.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the app, Catholic Daily may process the following categories of data:
- Information you provide directly, such as an optional email address and the contents of feedback or bug reports you submit from inside the app.
- App metadata attached to feedback, such as app version and platform, so we can investigate issues and respond appropriately.
- Content requested from our servers, such as reading data, Bible-version availability data, downloadable Bible files, and Scripture insight requests you ask the app to generate.
- Basic technical request data, such as IP address, device/network metadata, and server logs that are normally created when your device connects to our services.
- Locally stored app preferences, such as your selected theme, theme style, preferred Bible version, last-opened tab, recent reading state, and search state saved on your own device.
- Offline content stored on your device, including downloaded Bible database files you choose to keep for offline use.
3. Information we do not currently collect by default
Catholic Daily does not currently require account creation to use the core app. Based on the current app build, we do not intentionally include third-party advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or third-party crash-reporting SDKs inside the mobile app.
If that changes in a future release, this policy will be updated before or when the feature is introduced.
4. How we use information
We use information only as needed to operate and improve Catholic Daily, including to:
- Provide daily readings, Scripture search, liturgical information, and related app content.
- Deliver optional features you request, including downloaded offline Bible files and generated Scripture insights.
- Save your preferences and restore app state on your own device.
- Receive, review, and respond to user feedback, feature requests, and bug reports.
- Monitor reliability, defend against abuse, and keep our systems secure.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve app quality and content accuracy.
5. Legal bases where applicable
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we generally rely on contract or steps taken at your request to provide app functionality, legitimate interests to secure and improve the app, and consent where a feature specifically requires it.
6. Local storage on your device
Catholic Daily stores certain settings and state on your device using local app storage so the app can remember your preferences and restore your experience. This may include your selected theme mode, theme style, Bible version preference, last selected tab, last opened reading, and recent search state.
Offline Bible files that you download are also stored locally on your device until you delete them.
7. Feedback submissions
If you choose to send feedback through the app, we may receive the message you write, your optional email address, the feedback category you selected, your app version, and your platform. We use this information only to review feedback, improve the app, and reply when appropriate.
8. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share limited information with service providers that help us host, secure, or operate our systems, and with platform providers such as Apple or Google when you use store-related features. We may also disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect users, our services, or our rights.
9. Data retention
Data stored locally on your device remains there until you remove it, clear app storage, uninstall the app, or delete downloaded files. Information submitted to our servers, such as feedback messages and normal server logs, is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for operational, support, security, and legal purposes.
10. International transfers
Our infrastructure or service providers may operate in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect data and keep Catholic Daily reliable. No system can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure, but we work to reduce risk and respond to issues promptly.
12. Children
Catholic Daily is not intentionally directed to children below the minimum age required to use online services without parental consent in their jurisdiction. If you believe personal information relating to a child has been provided improperly, contact us and we will review the matter.
13. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability relating to personal information we hold about you.
