“... For the sons of this age are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the sons of light.” Luke 16:8
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21
The desperation and zeal of men towards earthly power and wealth that fade away usually for some ego-attached emotional satisfaction is almost enviable. These verses help us to reflect on and understand the meaning and nature of treasures in heaven. Let’s look at some more that imply these treasures will be awarded during the same time we are judged.
“Our inheritance as God's children is eternal, full of glory, and secured forever. Even in our suffering, we have every reason to rejoice.” 1 Peter 1:4
“Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.” 1 Corinthians 4:5
“If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward.” 1 Corinthians 3:14
The only reliable and true investment we can do is eternal investment and the only relevance of our earthly investments are the spiritual rewards and fruits that can be reaped from them. Scenario A: A man grows up learning to hussle the streets, over some time they get some help and climb the hussle ladder to become a top manager or own a business. And once they figure out a formula for creating wealth, they go after it with determination and sometimes certain aggression.
Scenario B: A man is caught in the web of power tussles with their fellow men over rights or ownership of a land or company or power or position. The man is ready to do almost anything for this purpose, will go to any length to trick, coerce, bribe anyone or even swear some oath just to claim their goal.
What if we were to have spiritual equivalents of these hussle. What if our eyes were opened to the eternal riches and wealth we could claim for ourselves in the new Kingdom where mansions are being built for us, what if we could have a say in the mansion and store up treasures in heaven for ourselves or would it be there are no equivalent of treasures in heaven and Christ would mention it to deceive us? Far be it such a thought, for not one drop of God’s word will pass away unfulfilled.
Dangers of money without spiritually attuned stewardship:
* Value is controlled by the governments * You will be tempted to abuse the power it gives you * Since it's attached primarily to the service of yours/ego, it is likely going to imply you have less time for family or pay less attention to details in your relationships * It is not a guarantee that you will have children who will not squander it or break your heart esp as they will be able to judge you for the shortcomings due to the negative sacrifices
What is the equivalent of spiritual poverty, how do you get help to start your hussle and how do you get into the true heavenly wealth hussle?
